The House for an Art Lover was designed in 1901 by Glasgow’s most celebrated architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Although it was not built during Mackintosh’s lifetime, construction began in 1989 and the House for an Art Lover became a reality in 1996. Visitors to the House are invited to view a series of Mackintosh exhibition rooms, where they can compare Mackintosh’s original designs against each completed room.
Today, the House for an Art Lover is one of Glasgow’s most prestigious visitor attractions and has established itself as a highly rated venue for corporate and private dining.
Situated in a beautiful parkland setting and adjacent to magnificent Victorian Walled Gardens, House for an Art Lover is a truly unique venue.
Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, House for an Art Lover represents one of the most exciting pieces of recent research on Glasgow's most famous architect and provides an excellent resource for visitors as a cultural attraction and exclusive private dining venue.
